12:00pm (USA East Coast time) Dr. Shawn Arent - Topic: Physique vs Sports Nutrition - Dr. Arent provides a in-depth analysis of why using physique nutrition for performance sports is a mistake. Though there may be some overlap, performance/sports nutrition has needs that are distinct from physique nutrition.

12:30pm (USA East Coast time) Dr. Bill Campbell - Topic: Nutrition for Optimizing Your Physique - We’ve known for years how important protein is for optimizing your physique.  Recent research has also highlighted the potential for flexible dieting and implementing diet breaks into your arsenal of strategies to choose from.  Dr. Campbell will review the latest research on these topics!



Dr. Shawn Arent is the current President of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Dr. Arent's research focuses on the relationship between physical activity and stress and the implications for health and performance. The primary emphasis of his research in this area involves examining underlying endocrine mechanisms and biomarkers related to the HPA axis and inflammation. He is specifically interested in the potential efficacy of acute and chronic resistance training as well as nutritional interventions for improving functional capabilities, mental health states, and the systemic response to stress in athletes, military and first-responders, adolescents, and special populations. Dr. Arent’s recent work has primarily focused on physiological responses to training-related stressors and their contribution to optimal performance and recovery. Dr. Arent is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina. 

Bill Campbell PhD FISSN CSCS

Dr. Bill Campbell is a Past-President of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Dr. Campbell is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science and the Director of the Performance & Physique Enhancement Laboratory at the University of South Florida. As a researcher and author, Dr. Campbell has published more than 150 scientific papers and abstracts (in academic journals) related to sports nutrition and physique enhancement. In addition, he is a paid consultant to professional sport team organizations, sport entertainment corporations, and also is a litigation consultant and expert witness related to dietary supplementation. Dr. Campbell has published three books on sports nutrition, including the NSCA's Guide to Sport and Exercise Nutrition and Sports Nutrition: Enhancing Athletic Performance.
