Description: TWO ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITIONS (10 month, tenure track) Nutrition, Food Science and Hospitality Responsibilities: South Dakota State University invites applications for two full-time, 10-month tenure-track research intensive faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level. The incumbents will be a critical part of a multidisciplinary team conducting research to better understand the links between human health, genomics and nutrition. The positions are a key piece of the Functional Genomics Initiative of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. Responsibilities include engaging in research/scholarly activity and securing external grants; teaching graduate nutrition courses; advising doctoral students in the area of expertise; and serving to profession, institution and community. Minimum Qualifications: An earned PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human Nutrition or other related area; strong record of research productivity, demonstrated success and commitment to nutrigenomic research, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptionally qualified mid-career candidates would be considered for appointment at the rank of associate professor. Candidates at the associate professor level will need a strong record of extramural support for their research activities. The Department of Nutrition, Food Science and Hospitality (NFSH) is one of the three departments comprising the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. The department is committed to the mission of research, teaching and service in Human Nutrition, Food Science and Hospitality Management. They offer B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs with about 160 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students. The College has about 800 graduate and undergraduate majors in the departments of Nutrition, Food Science and Hospitality; Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design; and Human Development, Consumer and Family Sciences. Nutrition, Food Science and Hospitality Department programs include majors/specializations in Nutritional Sciences, Food Science, Dietetics, and Hotel and Foodservice Management. The department is seeking a well-trained post-doctoral fellow to contribute to multidisciplinary research focusing on the role of exercise and nutrition on health, performance, disease, and rehabilitation. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in exercise physiology, nutrition, or related field with a strong background in a variety of exercise physiology, biochemical, and/or molecular research techniques. Candidates should provide evidence demonstrating an ability to supervise and/or direct research within the Exercise & Sport Nutrition Lab and Exercise Biochemical Nutrition Lab; assist in grant writing and/or management; and, supervise and mentor doctoral student research.
