Bio For STAMATIS MOURTAKOS, MSc, PhD(c), CISSN Stamatis Mourtakos, MSc, PhD (c), CISSN  is a sports nutritionist and exercise physiologist, based in Athens (Greece). He holds a BSc in sport science from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an MSc in sport nutrition and exercise physiology from Harokopion University where he is currently a PhD candidate in the field of Nutrition. Mr. Mourtakos is a military officer (graduate from military school) for more than 18 years and has been a military professor in the field of exercise and nutrition at the academies of The Hellenic Navy and Hellenic Airforce. He was also a former Greek national champion in rowing. He is currently heading a scientific group in The Hellenic Navy Special Forces (equivalent of US SEALS) regarding a pioneer program in their exercise and nutrition support, working on preparing manuals on these issues,. Moreover, he is working with a variety of top level athletes and teams including world champions and Olympic medal holders. He is co-founder and responsible for the Department of Nutrition of Base Training Academy (a Greek Academy dealing with various aspects of sports, exercise, performance and nutrition.
